I am sorry to inform you that Senator Buffington, who is handling HB 470 in the senate
for Representative Willmott, has decided to withdraw the bill due to the heavy opposition by a group of pro-hunting senators,
who view the bill as both unnecessary and an infringement of their rights to transport their dogs as they see fit. Technically,
the bill will remain on the calendar, but it will not be taken down for a floor vote, due to the lack of support. At
last count, Senator Buffington only had support from 10 senators, with 20 needed for passage. With the help of Representative
Willmott, Senator Buffington and the support of COLAA, we plan to reintroduce the same bill in 2014.
Sen. Dan Claitor is one of the main objectors to HB 470-prohibiting dogs riding is open trucks on highways. If
you live in Senator Claitor's district (Baton Rouge) please call his district office Phone (225) 765-0206 and ask him
to support HB 470
