COMMENT FROM OUR VICE-PRESIDENTThis was a comment posted by Rae McManus. It was very well stated and worth repeating here. I
do not care for the new term "no kill" These organizations and shelters have latched onto this term as you would
a suit of armor in preparation for war. They wave their armor to the public and all who dare challenge them as if to say
we have entered this battle and we are the mightiest of warriors, we will win this war. Well "no kill" is not
winning the war or the battle and the concept is causing many to believe it is as simple as just not putting them to sleep.
It is not that simple and if those who profess "no kill" were to realize this is not the simple answer. It is
still a great goal, but until spaying and neutering becomes more prevalent, there is no way we can re-home them all. We
cannot shelter, rescue, foster and adopt ourselves out of this pet overpopulation problem. So until them we must care for
the unwanted as best we can and that does not mean putting them in a shelter for years on end, throwing food and water to
them with a that's a good boy and go on to the next one hundred in the shelter.
