PLEASE READ!

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS! As Laura L says, DO YOUR RESEARCH! The deceptive Rick Berman and his organizations are NOT what they appear on the surface, e.g., HUMANE WATCH, and many others.

OPELOUSAS NEEDS HELP!

This ALERT is being sent for F.U.R., Friends Underwriting Rescues, and the community and citizens of Opelousas, Louisiana and surrounding areas who want substantial changes made to their municipal shelter, and need all animal advocates help.

It has come to the attention of the founders and volunteers of F.U.R. that certain illegal actions have been permitted within the shelter. Videos, pictures, and statements have been obtained to verify those actions, such as:

The former director, Patricia Street, has been performing euthanasia by heart stick without sedation, illegal since July 1, 2013, by authority of L.R.S. 3:2465 (C)(1)(3).  http://www.legis.state.la.us/lss/lss.asp?doc=86039&showback=.   Animals are left in kennels filled with feces on the floor, as well as in water and food bowls; dead animals are left with live ones, animals left with no food or water for long periods of time, dogs caged in direct sunlight, among other things, all in violation of state laws of shelter operation procedures as referred above.  All of the records from the shelter, including logs required to be kept and reported to the DEA on controlled substances, have been removed by Ms. Street.  Ms. Street has recently been appointed as a “humane investigator” for the parish livestock division, whose daughter let 2 horses starve to death in her care as a shelter employee.

All of these facts have been known to the public officials in charge of overseeing the animal shelter and employees.  http://www.katc.com/news/criminal-investigation-into-st-landry-parish-animal-control-center/.

Let’s help these concerned citizens of Opelousas and St. Landry Parish convince parish officials, including the Sheriff’s Investigative Department, to pursue charges against Ms. Street, along with her daughter, for these violations, increase the number of capable employees at the shelter, and work with volunteers to make progressive changes for the animals and the community as a whole.

Please email and/or call the following officials who can make the difference!  Thanks for helping!

There is a public meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 18th  at 6 p.m.  Emails and calls before then would be much appreciated!
